Cambodia is one of the most fascinating countries in South Asia. A trip to Cambodia allows a glimpse of the East Asia of old times. The trip to Cambodia takes us on a tour to Siem Reap with its magnificent palaces, the temples of Angkor with its huge stone statues and cruising through dozens of floating villages outside Phnom Penh.

Day 1    Phnom Penh arrival 

Pick up from airport and transfer to hotel.We visit Independence Monument. From here we enjoy cyclo ride to the Royal Palace, built by King Norodom in 1866 on the site of the old town, and the Silver Pagoda.

Located within the grounds of the Royal Palace, the Silver Pagoda is so named because of its floor, which is made up of 5000 silver tiles.. Enjoy one-hour cruise on the Mekong River. 

Overnight in Phnom Penh

Day 2 Phnom Penh  

After Breakfast at hotel we visit the Toul Sleng Prison Museum and the Killing Fields of Choeung Ek-both grim reminders of Cambodia’s bloody past under Pol Pot. This excursion may prove distressing for some. It is, however, an important piece of this country’s historical and cultural puzzle. 

Afternoon, we continue to visit the National Museum, also called Musee des Beaux-Arts. The museum contains a collection of Khmer art – notably sculptures – throughout the ages. 

We end our day trip at Wat Phnom Temple, Phnom Penh’s namesake, from where you can enjoy views over the tree-lined avenues of Phnom Penh during sunset.

Day 3  Phnom Penh – Battambang 

Breakfast at the hotel: Transfer by private car to the Battambang town, where you can find many of the French Colonial architectures. On the way, we will visit the Silversmith village, see the pottery manufactories in Kompong Chhnang and visit also a fish market. After check in, we drive along the picturesque Sangker River to Wat Slaket Pagoda, the former residence of the provincial Buddhist patriarch. 

We continue to visit Ek Phnom Temple which is an 11th century Angkorian-era ruin built as a Hindu temple under Suryavarman I. Wat Ek Phnom, a modern pagoda, sits next to the ruin. The river road drive to Ek Phnom from Battambang passes through small villages and rice paddies and is an absolutely beautiful countryside drive. Visit a market where Prahoc, the Cambodian fish paste, is made. We continue to visit the place where local people take steam-sticky rice cooked in bamboo. Return to town for a short walk to local market.

Day 4  Battambang – Siemreap

Breakfast at hotel and then We drive to the village of Ksach Puoy on the banks of the Sangker River. As well as being home to many well preserved traditional Khmer wooden stilted homes, this area grows a variety of tropical fruits and afterthe rainy season farmers plant all kinds of vegetables along the fertile river banks, here you can learn about traditional agriculture – Phnom Banan, Battambang also a great opportunity to taste juicy oranges, sweet pineapples, and many other fruit Not far from Ksach Puoy is Cambodia’s first vineyard – Prasat Phnom Banan Vineyard learn about producing wine in the tropics and of course enjoy a spot of wine tasting! A few kilometers further south you arrive at the well preserved 11th century mountaintop Angkorian temple of Phnom Banan. 

After climbing the 350+ steps you are treated to a wonderfully peaceful setting with superb views across the surrounding countryside. We end our day tour by visiting bamboo train village with great experiences of sliding on this funny train.

Day 5   Siemreap

After breakfast at hotel Start your sightseeing tour of Angkor area we spend a full day exploring the wondrous ancient ruins with the South Gate of Angkor Thom, which is famous for its series of colossal human faces carved in stone. Also  the impressive Bayon Temple, the Royal Enclosure, Phimeanakas, the Elephant Terrace, the Terrace of the Leper King and the largest as well as the most complete temple of Angkor Wat. 

We stroll around this massive edifice, seeing the many galleries with columns, libraries, pavilions, courtyards and ponds full of water reflecting the towering temple and the jungle covered temple of Ta Prohm is an incredible sight. There are enormous fig trees and gigantic creepers which embrace themselves in the stone foundations of the structure giving the impression of man’s creation being reclaimed by the powerful forces of nature. 

Late afternoon we take Tuktuk, a small open-sided taxi common in Cambodia, to cruise around the suburb of Siem Reap town and for a blessing ceremony by Buddhist monks for happiness, prosperity and safety for your journey.

Day 6     Siemreap

Morning, drive to the remote Beng Mealea temple. There is a lot to see in the approximately 2 hours drive as it takes you through many lively villages and along kilometers of rice paddies.

Explore the long abandoned temple (11th century), strangled by the jungle. A further 1 hr drive brings you to Koh Ker, situated in the northeast of Siem Reap. Discover the long abandoned temples in the forests of northern Cambodia. Also known as Chok Gargyar, it served as the capital of Jayrman IV (reigned 928-42  There are more than 30 major structures and experts believe there may have been as many as 100 minor sacred buildings in the region. It was also a prolific period for gigantic sculpture and several of the most impressive pieces in the National Museum in Phnom Penh come from Koh Ker.

Return to Siem Reap.

Day 7         Siemreap Departure 

Depending on your flight time,you will be picked you at your hotel and transferred to the airport for your departure flight.
