Description

An organized trip to Albania is a journey to one of the most fascinating countries in Europe. Albania was closed to tourists until about 28 years ago, in the early 1990s, and only after the disintegration of communist rule and the death of the ruling dictator was it possible to start traveling in Albania.
On the organized trip to Albania, we will focus and visit the central places in northern Albania. We will cruise the river, meet the residents in the mountains, visit a UNESCO heritage site in the vicinity of neighboring Kosovo and of course we will not miss the capital Tirana and the old town of Berat. Our tour will end in the city of Dores, on the shores of the Adriatic Sea in Albania.

Routes and Schedule

Day 1: Tirana – Kruja
Arrival in Tirana International Airport.
Private transfer from the airport to your hotel in Kruja old town.
Overnight in Kruja.

Day 2: Kruja– Shkodra
Today we visit Kruja, with a combination of nature, history, archaeology, traditional food and lifestyle, Kruja is one of the most beautiful tourist spots in Albania. Kruja is notable from its stony streets and traditional buildings. After the visits it’s time to get closer to Albanian traditions and lifestyle, by visiting the bazaar.
Further we proceed to the northern city of Albania – Shkodra; with the most important town of north Albania and the Illyrian capital, in the 3rd century BC. We enjoy the view of the city from the hill top, where is located the Castle of Rozafa, a mysterious structure, surrounded in legends and mysticism. Further we take a walk in the pedestrian area of the old town, where the architecture has a big influence from the venetian style.

Day 3: Shkoder – KomanLake Ferry – Valbonavalley
Today we head towards Valbona Valley, one of the highlights of the Albanian Alps. For almost 3 hours we take a spectacular boat trip through the artificial lake ok Koman. The lake is created by the hydropower stations built on Drin River. The depth of the lake has given it an opal green color, while being surrounded by high mountains, Many visitors call this areas as similar to the norvergian fjords. After the ferry trip, drive through the alpine villages towards Valbona. Valbona Valley is an authentic village, where it looks like time has stopped since many decades. We enjoy a walk or easy hike in the village.
Overnight in the valley in a alpine style hotel.

Day 4: Valbona– Prizren – Tirana
Today we leave the village and drive for 2 hours to the Unesco town of Prizren in Kosovo. We take a lunch break and spend time walking in the city, famous for the ottoman style bridge & the castle overlooking the city. Further we transfer to Tirana in 3.5 hours driver, where we spend the afternoon & overnight.

Day 5: Berat
Today we proceed towards another UNESCO town – Berat, the pride of Albanian antiquity and architecture. Berat forms a wonderful combination of eastern and western cultures, costumes and traditions. The architecture of the old houses, with large windows that overlook the town, is the first think that impresses the visitors. We will visit the citadel overlooking the river, the Christian quarter, the modern city and the iconographic museum Onurfi. Afternoon return in Tirana, for a walking tour where we visit the main attractions of the city.

Day: 6 : Durres
Free time in Durres beach area

Day 7: Return
Free time on the beach and according your flight schedule return back home.
